Life in Iida starts winding down...

Now there is less than 2 weeks left until the end of my summer program in Japan and the "lasts" have begun. On Sunday, I had my last day of volleyball at the gym with the neighborhood kids. It was quite sad. They gave me a bag of assorted snack foods, and I went back to my hotel. Japanese people like to give things to people randomly like that. I'm fine with it, except that I've really been hitting the junk food lately. I should be losing weight with all the walking that I've been doing here. However, I've been eating so much that I've remained the same. I'll have to quit the excessive intake once I get home or prepare to buy bigger pants. Tonight we had another last. It was the last time that we will have an english conversation session with japanese people from the town, in order to improve their english. I'm actully kind of relieved though because I always found the conversations to be awkward. I realize that this probably seems pretty boring, but this is what life has been like. Today was exciting because I saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean!! I enjoyed it, but I hate the way that they ended it. This weekend will be even more action packed because I'm going to TOKYO!!! I'm super psyched about it!!! I'm going with my friend Crystal and we are going to stay at Akina's house (my roommate from Mizzou). On Saturday, there will be a ginormous fireworks festival that I'm really looking forward to seeing, and I plan on wearing my Yukata that I bought last week. A Yukata is like a summer version of a Kimono. I'll be sure to tell everyone about the wonderful time I'm sure to have in Tokyo this weekend....

Oh Sarah, you're such an amazing girl and an amazing friend! I miss u a lot and I love reading ur blog cause I feel like we're together and we share stories;)
That's AMAZING that u're going to Tokyo...I want to see tons of pics of it! And that u will be staying at Akina's...so cool! Tell both her and Crystal I said hi;)
By the way - don't get mad:( - but I just remembered I didn't make the bed when I left ur house...hahah! I never told u what happened! I was drinking at Heidelbergh with few people and when it closed, after many many beers, I first had to go to Walgreens and buy all the medicines I needed for India (it was 1.30 am and my bus left at 3am!) then I had to finish packing while Kelly (who was exausted!) was sleeping in ur bed...then I had to wake him up and run to the bus station..I couldn't remember where we agreed to leave the key so I just left it on the doorstep of ur house (hope Akina found it the next day!), broke the mirror of Kelly's car (yap, I was a bit tipsy!) got to the bus station late where I found out I missed the bus to St Louis but at least there was another one coming after half hour and I took that one...In all of that, I'm so sorry that I didn't have time to make ur bed! But once u'll be back to Mizzou u will remember ur messy Italian friend;)
bisous cherie! tu me manques beaucoup!

I know you'll miss Japan and all your new friends. It will be good to have you back in Ol' Mizzourah
again though.

I spent a week with my sisters, Martha and Barbara in Tennessee last week. We spent a couple of days with Esther Marie and generally had a great time. Lots of laughter and too much food.

Grandpa has been fishing about 2 times a week and is enjoying himself. It is super hot here as well, little if any rain. The water in the swimming pool at Riordan was 92 degrees last week. Hardly refreshing.

Friends and family here miss you and look forward to your return.
Enjoy the next two weeks.

Love you, G'ma and G'pa

SARAH!!

I'm at SSC and I miss you. Your stories from Japan are amazing (especially in comparison to Ft. Wayne, Indiana!!), and I can't wait to hear more. See you soon! :) :) :)
